Meet Jen
Jen Hunt is the founder and lead consultant for New Math Minds. Nearly 25 years in elementary classrooms has informed her work as a math specialist.
Jen works alongside teachers and administrators to strengthen math instruction in ways that are practical, sustainable, and grounded in how students actually learn.
Jen’s Approach
Math instruction has changed. Students have changed. What worked five years ago does not always work now. Jen’s work focuses on helping schools respond to that shift.
She brings together:
Classroom experience
Brain research
Developmentally appropriate practices
Practical strategies teachers can use right away
With the goal of teachers feeling confident in raising a classroom of students who own the math.
Kickstart Math Intervention
Jen is the creator and co-author of the Kickstart Math Intervention series, designed to support students working in Tier 2 and Tier 3.
It is hands-on, flexible, and built for real classrooms — the classrooms we have today.
Kickstart is loved by teachers, para-educators, and volunteers across the nation because it is structured, accessible, and easy to implement right away.
Available series include:
- Number Sense (K–3 skills)
- Fractions (3–5 skills)
- Operations (3–5 skills)
What It’s Like to Partner with Jen
Jen’s work is rooted in partnership. She listens first, works alongside teachers, and focuses on small shifts that lead to meaningful change over time.
Teachers often leave feeling encouraged, capable, and clear on what to do next.
I heard from several staff members after your observations and feedback that they left 'glowing' and 'feeling encouraged'. Thank you for helping create buy-in for my team and reminding them that they ARE learning and doing great things!
Jen's expertise was instrumental in our success as she provided thoughtful approaches to math problem solving and fluency that helped increase our student outcomes.
I am incredibly grateful and would recommend your training to anyone who is looking for ways to improve their math approach with students.
